In tests, Babar Azam obtains a career-high ranking.


Babar Azam, the all-formats captain of Pakistan, made tremendous progress in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test batting rankings by claiming his highest position to date following the conclusion of the historic Test series against England.




Babar, who had a successful series against England, received recognition for his outstanding year of red-ball cricket play as the captain has now climbed to a career-high second place in Tests.




The right-handed batsman switched places with Australia's seasoned Steve Smith, whose countryman Marnus Labuschagne continued to dominate the batting order with a magnificent home series versus West Indies.




However, Babar drew nearer to Labuschagne in the most recent standings as he had 875 rating points, just 61 less than Labuschagne.
